PRO ROOKIE  CAMP

     The UJHL invites all prospect players that are looking to play hockey at the next level.

     The Elmira Jackals of the ECHL, Affiliate to the NHL Ottawa Senators and AHL Binghamton Senators are holding their "Pro Rookie Draft Camp" in September, 2009. The Jackals will be inviting five of these players to their main camp.

07/09/09     The Thunder sign 5' 09", 195 lb. forward, Patrick Oberlin from Athens, Ohio for the 2009-10 season. 07/07/09     The Johnstown Jets Junior are Rocking and Rolling as the Johnstown hockey tradition continues.     They have signed Anthony McDaniel a Goalie from Florida. Anthony played last year for the Wooster Oilers.  The Jets have also signed Lucas Glass, a defenseman from Altoona, PA and played High School hockey for Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders. 07/06/09    The Thunder sign forward, Kyler Speice to the Thunder line-up for the 2009-10 season. Speice is a seasoned veteran of the UJHL as he played for the Wooster Oilers last season, but due to a bank injury was side lined for half the season. 07/04/09      The Wooster Oilers announce that their Main July Tryout Camp, at the Alice Noble Ice Arena, Wooster Ohio, is now open for registrations, and filling quickly! The dates will be July 17th, 18th and 19th. Spots for this tryout camp will be limited by position, and will be on a first to register, first taken basis!  There will be a Friday evening goalie session ( Goalies will be evaluated by Scott Shantery, coach John Carroll University) with two Saturday sessions ( lunch will be served to the players after A.M session) and one Sunday A.M  session. For further details you can go to the "tryouts" tab on the left side of the UJHL site. 06/22/09        The Troy Bruins are proud to announce the Quality Inn in Troy, OH. as the official host hotel of the Troy Bruins and the UJHL visiting clubs and fans.  06/21/09       Troy Bruins had great success in their tryouts this past weekend to begin completion of their roster for the the 2009-10 season. 06/18/09       The Philadelphia Thunder announced that they will be supplying all hockey sticks for their players for the 2009-10 season. The Thunder Organization stated; "with the economy still affecting everyone, we feel that with this bonus for the players, it will take the strain of the financial burden off them and their families, as they pay enough to play at this level as it is". 06/17/09        The Thunder sign Forward Justin Obrien from Elmira, NY. Justin played for the Elmira Jr. Jackals in the EJHBL last season, where he totaled 10 points in 40 games. Justin is familiar with the style of coaching as he was the stick boy for the Pro Elmira Jackals of the ECHL, where Coach Simmons is the Team Head Scout and Video Coach. 06/17/09       The Thunder sign Forward Michael Materna from Mechanicsville, VA. for the 2009-10 season. 06/17/09       The Americans obtained the rights to Philadelphia Thunder forward, Brad Penk for future selected draft pick in the 2010 UJHL Draft. 06/16/09       The Bruins bring in Ernie Hicke as their Team Scout. Ernie played junior hockey starting in 1963 for the Regina Pats, before being called up into the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens organization. He continued his NHL career with such clubs as the Oakland Seals, Atlanta Flames, New York Islanders, Minnesota North Stars and the Los Angeles Kings,. Ernie’s outstanding career had him playing in the NHL for 14 years completing his career as an Assistant Coach/Player for the Dallas Blackhawks in the CHL winning a Championship there. 06/15/09      The UJHL has announced that the Buffalo Jr. Bandits and the Mass. Indians are looking to hire coaching staff and management for the 2010-11 season. For further information, please contact the UJHL Commissioner, EJ Fornias. 06/14/09      The Predators sign Forward, Gleb Luchnikov from Russia for the 2009-10 season. 06/12/09      The Wooster Oilers are beginning to add pieces for the 2009-2010 season. On Monday the Oilers were pleased to sign 19 year old Forward, Nick Gates out of Athens Ohio. Gates notched 33 points in 29 games for the Bobcats. The Oilers were happy to announce the signing of 1993 defenceman Timothy Treloar of the Mahoning Valley Phantoms. 06/11/09     The Predators sign Forward, Shadean Watson for the 2009-10 season. 06/10/09     The Americans bring Scott Rock as their Assistant Coach for the 2009-10 season. 06/08/09     The Wooster Oilers announce that their Main July Camp is now open for registrations. Where they will introduce their Coaching Staff, first player signing and their Mascot. 05/13/09     The Johnstown Jets have signed their first player, netminder, Scott Van Horn who played Midget 'AAA' last year for the Pittsburgh Huskies. 05/13/09     The Springfield Indians sign Steve Durej as their Assistant Coach and Dustin Durej as their Goalie Coach. Steve Durej was an Assistant Coach with the Indians youth program in the late 90`s, as well as Head Coach of the MassConn Braves. Dustin Durej is a former Indian and MassConn player. He attended Westfield St. College and played there from 2001-2003. Dustin Durej has been an Assistant Coach with the MassConn Braves and Goalie Coach for their organization. 05/11/09     05/11/09     The UJHL and its Clubs have joined forces with "Shoot For A Cure", which is a foundation that helps to raise funds for spinal cord research, to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries in hockey and to promote prevention of hockey-related spinal cord injuries. 05/10/09      The UJHL concluded their League Meetings in Elmira, NY with great success from all Club Members involved and will have the 2009-10 League Schedule published by June 1, 2009. 05/09/09     The Buffalo Stampede have announced that due to ice location and scheduling conflicts, they will not be able to participate in the 2009-10 season. New ownership has bought the franchise and has been named the Buffalo Bandits and will be working  diligently, under the new ownership and management for the 2010-11 season. 05/06/09    The Wooster Oilers Hockey Club has announced their Southern Evaluation Camp is now accepting registrations. For full details, please go to the Indians site. 04/03/09     The ownership group of the Johnstown Jr. Hockey Club has announced today that they have decided to bring back the roots of hockey from the beginning in Johnstown, PA., by utilizing the "Johnstown Jets" as their official name for the 2009-10 season. Commissioner EJ Fornias stated; "we had a teleconference yesterday and when the owners first approached the name change and the reasoning behind it, I could not disagree, as the hockey history in Johnstown is very historic just as the great town itself". 03/29/09     The UJHL officially announced today, a two year contract between Albert M. Greto, Esquire, attorney for the UJHL for the 2009-10 season. The full bio on Mr. Greto can be found on the "League Office" tab. Stay tuned as the American's website will be posted shortly. 03/15/09     The Thunder came out with pure energy and skated a full 60 minutes to beat the Oilers 7-6. Both teams will have a full week to rest and practice as they prepare to battle on March 28 & 29, 2009 for the "Knox Cup" in Wooster, Ohio. 03/14/09     The Oilers and Thunder played a great game but was unable to hold on as the Oilers defeated the Thunder 9-5.
